Organisations need professionals with the knowledge and skills to identify problems and develop solutions within both purchasing and the wider supply chain.
This Masters in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management will provide students with an advanced programme in the area, informed by research in the forefront of knowledge within Purchasing and Supply Chain management.
The Westminster Business School's Masters in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management addresses the strategic role of purchasing and supply chain management within the organisation; the impact of changes in the regulatory and policy environment on the supply chain and new technologies and techniques available to address current and future problems in the supply chain. The course will develop students' knowledge of best practice in the field and the importance of business process/activity integration to support this.
Length of course: 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time
Applicants to the Masters in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management should normally hold a first degree from a recognised
institution (minimum 2.2), or international equivalent and demonstrate
interest and motivation in the subject area. Alternative professional
qualifications with at least three years relevant professional
experience will also be considered as well as directly relevant degree
disciplines including business studies, economics, geography, management
and operations research.
Students with qualifications in other disciplines such as languages and the humanities, engineering and environmental sciences are also encouraged to apply.
All international students, for whom English is not their first language, are required to provide evidence of linguistic ability.
This course has strong links with research both within Westminster Business School and the School of Architecture and the Built Environment. The Transport Studies Group is part of a major national Green Logistics Project and the Centre for Business Information, Organisation and Process Management (BIOPoM) has specialist research groups in Sustainable Business and E-Business and E-Government.
You will acquire the qualities needed to either advance in your current employment, or gain new employment in todays complex and demanding environment where sound judgement, personal responsibility and initiative are sought.

The modules will be delivered through a variety of teaching methods including lectures, seminars, case study analysis, workshops and group work. Visiting speakers will be used where possible. The use of practical business based examples will be emphasised and students own experience will be drawn upon where appropriate. Modules also use appropriate computer models/packages and simulations.
The course is delivered by a dedicated team of staff drawn from two schools at the University of Westminster, enabling us to deliver modules informed by research at the forefront of knowledge in both Purchasing and Supply Chain Management. Where appropriate, teaching is also supplemented by external lecturers and speakers. The teaching team are experienced lecturers and many both research and practice in supply chain management.
The Marylebone site has a suite of rooms and facilities reserved for the sole use of postgraduate business students. The libraries are open 24/7 and many reference materials are available electronically. The sites are WiFi enabled for laptop and notebook usage and library and research facilities can also be accessed online from your home or office.
All classrooms all equipped with data projection and internet connections. The University uses a system called Blackboard, a virtual learning environment, to support teaching and learning. It facilitates and manages electronic communication and access to materials and information.
